Jamie Dornan has opened up about a ‘f***ing scary’ stalker experience he endured when he rocketed to fame.
The 41-year-old actor was launched into the spotlight when he starred in the steamy romp that is 50 Shades Of Grey back in 2015.
In it, Jamie plays Christian Grey; a suit-wearing, high powered man with an almost comical array of domineering kinks and a fully-stocked sex dungeon.
But while Jamie might have expected to be recognised after his box office performance, he did not expect to fear for his family’s safety because of it.
‘I’m pretty good at just blocking any of the noise associated with whatever fandom is – not letting it affect me, or more importantly my family,’ he told The Independent.
The Fall actor then revealed that pre-Covid a stalker turned up to his house when his children were there.
‘I’ve been involved in situations where it’s impacted my family. I had a situation… a stalker-type situation before Covid,’ he began.
‘That was f***ing scary. Someone turned up at my house when my kids were there. It was not something…’
‘The more I can block that out, the better it is for me and the family,’ he concluded.
English musician, composer, and former actress Amelia Warner and Jamie married in 2013, and share three daughters: Dulcie, Elva, and Alberta.
While viewers gobbled up the first installment of 50 Shades, based on E. L. James’ 2011 novel of the same name and also starring Dakota Johnson, Jennifer Ehle and Marcia Gay Harden – critics weren’t so impressed.
Nevertheless, Jamie – who was drafted in to play the controversial part after Charlie Hunnam pulled out last minute – went on to star in two more sequel films, completing the trilogy.
However, the original film’s director Sam Taylor-Johnson announced she would not be returning to complete the trilogy.
Explaining the decision to the Hollywood Reporter, Sam cited she and the novelist having ‘two different creative visions’ as her reason for departure.
She concluded: ‘Her vision versus mine, and they were polar opposites. Every scene was fought over. It was tough.’
Jamie also opened up about this time in the recent interview.
He said after Sam left the creation of the film felt fractured, and it ‘didn’t fit’ like it did in the first film.
50 Shades of Grey grossed $569.7 million (£439.5mill) worldwide against a budget of £31million.
