Nigel Farage could be back in politics within days of leaving the I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! jungle.
The GB News host, 59, has made it all the way to the final – much to the shock of many – alongside reality star Sam Thompson and boxing champ Tony Bellew.
And after the divisive Reform Party founder seemingly gained a new wave of popularity on the show, it’s said he wants to capitalise on that.
According to reports, Farage is expected to set out his plan for returning to his political career after leaving the jungle.
Having previously refused to deny whether he would like to run for Prime Minister, Farage is said to be using his newfound fame as a ‘stepping-stone’ back into Westminster.
A source close to the former MEP told MailOnline: ‘The coming months are going to be huge for Nigel, he wants a way back into politics and he is going to tell his fans of this in the coming days.
‘His view is that going on a show like I’m A Celeb means he has been shone into millions of living rooms across Britain where the viewers can see him warts and all.
‘They also can learn of his political opinions.’
Back home, Farage’s team is said to be ‘thrilled’ at how the former Brexit party leader has connected with a new audience during his time Down Under.
It comes after Farage’s key strategy in I’m A Celeb was to send the message of how he will ‘fight the establishment.’
Insiders reportedly used this narrative to claim that ITV is left wing, hence the ‘lack of airtime’ for Farage, because the network disagreed with his politics.
When Farage went fully naked in the jungle shower – and exposed his bum to millions of viewers, as well as campmate Josie Gibson – his team was said to be ‘furious’.
Consequently, they sent a legal letter, claiming that ITV had broken an ‘indecency’ clause in Farage’s contract.
However, ITV shut this down and later claimed no such clause existed.
Farage has ‘scarred’ viewers on more than one occasion this series, most recently with his tiny green shorts in the chaotic Celebrity Cyclone trial.
But, his nudity apparently hasn’t gone down well with bosses, as he was asked not to strip off prior to the show.
In an interview after leaving the camp, 52-year-old Frankie Dettori revealed that, behind the scenes, they had been urged not to go for a wash naked – meaning that Farage defied the instructions.
‘We were told to keep our swimmers on!’ he told The Sun.
‘The shower is miles away from the camp so we don’t know what’s going on. I am not going to go and spy on Nigel’s butt!’
Having known Farage before they both entered the jungle, Dettori added: ‘I think he’s doing really well. I mean, I love Nigel, he is super funny, very interesting, very knowledgeable.’
It’s safe to say Farage’s casting was controversial, with countless loyal fans of I’m A Celeb ‘boycotting’ the show in fury.
Hosts Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly also caught heat for endorsing his signing.
The Geordie duo have since come out and said they don’t want any more politicians taking part in the programme, after Matt Hancock also reached the final and finished third in 2022.
When asked about PM Rishi Sunak popping up in Australia in the future, Dec said on social media: ‘I think we do a year without any politicians.’
‘Agreed, agreed, agreed,’ replied Ant.
The final of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! 2023 airs tonight at 9pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
