Simone Biles continued her Olympic redemption story by claiming her second gymnastics gold in Paris and sixth overall.

Biles helped Team USA pick up gold in a team event earlier this week and continue her impressive form in the individual all-around final on Thursday evening.

The American won this title back at Rio in 2016 and was favourite in Tokyo five years later but pulled out after suffering from the ‘twisties’.

Biles produced a sensational display in the Paris event, becoming the oldest winner of her sport’s blue-riband event for 72 years.

After beating Brazil’s Rebeca Andrade and defending champion Sunisa Lee to gold, Biles showed off a new necklace – a sparkly goat in reference to her tag as the greatest of all time.

Biles finished with an overall score of 59.131, with Brazil’s Rebeca Andrade taking silver and defending champion Sunisa Lee.

Reacting to Biles’ latest gold-winning performance, BBC commentator Matt Baker said: ‘What a comeback, wow.

‘That was absolutely incredible – on so many levels. Simone Biles is back where she belongs. Absolutely another level.

‘You can feel the admiration and respect from everyone here – that is the way to do it. Goodness me it wasn’t easy, it had its ups-and-downs, but surely that is your champion.’

Biles has more chances for gold

Terrifyingly, for her rivals at least, Biles could yet add three more golds to her collection ahead of three individual finals.

She is due to take part in the vault final on Saturday and the beam and floor finals on Monday.

Biles holds the record for most women’s all-around world titles and most world championship medals.

Before Paris 2024 she was already the most decorated gymnast with 37 world medals.
