A TNA Wrestling star got involved in an altercation with a fan who appeared to cross the line during a live match.
Former world champion Eddie Edwards, 40, was teaming with Brian Myers against WWE legends The Hardy Boyz during Friday night’s Final Resolution pay-per-view when a fan caught his eye on the front row.
Edwards and the unnamed man, who was not part of the show, were seen exchanging strong words during the live broadcast before the wrestler knocked something out of the fan’s hands.
After they continued talking, the fan raised a hand to the star’s face, while Edwards immediately responded with a harder slap of his own.
He then shoved the man into his seat while referees got in the way to stop things escalating further.
Edwards turned to camera and said he was ‘having fun’, while Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp reported that the fan was escorted out of the building and handed over to police.
Metro has approached TNA Wrestling for comment on the aftermath of the incident.
Neither Edwards nor TNA have addressed the situation publicly, but a number of his co-workers have praised the way he handled the altercation.
Jordynne Grace reposted the video on X and wrote: ‘EDDIE IS THE GOAT LMFAOOOO. Slapping a wrestler and not expecting to get slapped back is INSANE’
AJ Francis, who wrestled in WWE under the name Top Dolla, added: ‘Eddie a better man than me… I woulda dragged his goofy ass over the barricade and beat the life out that boy.’
‘Man, @TheEddieEdwards is a hero,’ wrote tag partner Brian Myers, and their Control teammate Moose said: ‘Eddie should get a Life Achievement award for this and be inducted to TNA hall of Fame immediately.’
Elsewhere on Final Resolution, viral wrestling star Joe Hendry outlasted Josh Alexander, Mike Santana and Steve Maclin to become number one contender to the TNA World Title.
He will now face current champion Nic Nemeth – best known to WWE fans as Dolph Ziggler – at the Genesis event next month.
Meanwhile, Jordynne Grace was attacked by the returning Tessa Blanchard after a win over Rosemary.
The promotion terminated Blanchard’s contract in June 2020 when she was still TNA World Champion, after she was allegedly asked to send in videos for the Covid pandemic tapings, but didn’t.
It’s claimed the company wanted the reigning champion to come to the filming to drop the title to another wrestler in a match, but an agreement couldn’t be reached and TNA bosses terminated her contract and the championship was vacated.
In January 2020, a number of female wrestlers accused her of bullying and racism, while Blanchard has denied using racist language towards fellow wrestler La Rosa Negra.
