Comedian Daisy May Cooper has reportedly become embroiled in a £30,000 legal battle with her landlady after allegedly repainting a room in her Grade II-listed Cotswolds home without permission.
This Country star Cooper, 38, moved into the historic seven-bedroom mansion with boyfriend Anthony Huggins in December 2023, promising landlady Rebecca Ferry that they would ‘love’ and ‘look after’ the cherished family home.
The landlady and mother of five, 46, was reportedly left mortified when she discovered that her famous tenant had taken it upon herself to repaint one room an ‘awful’ shade of blue.
Cooper is believed to be renting the property for £17,000 a month, and it boasts its own heated swimming pool, hot tub, gym, sauna, cinema, riding arena, stables, annexe, and even a gardener.
In addition to backlash to the controversial paint job, Cooper has also been slammed with noise complaints from neighbours and reports that she has ‘smuggled in’ pet cats, further breaking her tenancy agreement.
Ferry is now said to have launched legal proceedings against the Never Mind the Buzzcocks panellist, with her lawyers calling on Cooper to pay for a heritage expert to estimate the damage to the historic property.

Describing her distress upon discovering the room’s new look, Ferry told MailOnline: ‘We’ve had it for 20 years and it’s the place where I brought up the kids, so it’s more than just a rental; it’s a home.’
She continued: ‘When Daisy rented it, she said we’ll love it and we’ll look after it, and I took that on faith. Why would I not?’
Talking of her initial reaction, Ferry said: ‘I had to leave, and I went outside, and I cried when I saw it. I was lost for words initially, and I just had to leave because I didn’t expect them to do that to a house that’s newly renovated.
‘It was bright, dentist-chair blue, and covered in huge dinosaur stickers. It was awful, actually.’
A friend of Cooper’s told the outlet: ‘It’s all got nasty… it’s just a dispute that’s got out of hand.’

Ferry said that she chose the original paint by Farrow & Ball to comply with listed building rules and claims that modern renovation could cause long-term damage to the historic building.
Guidance from Historic England states that using modern paints on listed properties requires listed building consent to prevent physical damage to the property by unsuitable paint.
Ferry also claims that Cooper broke the contract by sneaking her cats inside – strictly forbidden due to her daughter’s allergy.

Cooper has allegedly refused to remove her cats but has indicated that she will pay for professional cleaners when she moves out of the property.
Meanwhile, neighbours are believed to have complained after Cooper allegedly took quad bikes from the garage without permission. The actress is said to have apologised, explaining that she thought she had been given permission by the letting agent.
Cooper’s legal battle follows apparent confirmation that she has got engaged to boyfriend Anthony Huggins.

The Taskmaster star confirmed that she was dating Bristol-based artist Huggins in 2023, and they went on to welcome their first child together in June last year.
In an Instagram post promoting the new series of her BBC comedy Am I Being Unreasonable? this month, she referred to Huggins as her ‘fiancé,’ writing: ‘Keep your eyes peeled for my fit fiance and baby daddy @ant_evo that I managed to crowbar into the playground scene.’
A source told The Sun: ‘Daisy and Anthony are madly in love with each other and are a success story for dating apps.
‘Their relationship has gone from strength to strength and already have a baby boy together.’
