Oasis musician Paul ‘Bonehead’ Arthurs will miss a string of shows after revealing he’s undergoing treatment for cancer.

One of the founding members of the band, the rhythm guitarist initially left the group in 1999 before rejoining last year for their Oasis Live ’25 Tour, with the UK leg wrapping up last month.

However, in a statement shared on social media tonight, the 60-year-old announced he wouldn’t be playing shows in Seoul, Tokyo, Melbourne and Sydney gigs.

‘Early this year I was diagnosed with prostate cancer,’ he began.

‘The good news is I’m responding really well to treatment, which meant I could be part of this incredible tour.

‘Now, I am having to take a planned break for the next phase of my care, so I’ll be missing the gigs in Seoul, Tokyo, Melbourne and Sydney.

‘I’m really sad to be missing these shows but I’m feeling good and will be back ready to go in time for South America.’

He concluded the post by sharing: ‘Have an amazing time if you’re going this month and I’ll see you back onstage with the band in November. Bonehead. X.’

About one in eight men will get prostate cancer in their lifetime, according to the charity Prostate Cancer UK. The disease often has no symptoms in its earlier stages.

The update comes after he was previously diagnosed with tonsil cancer just three years ago.

In April 2022 he shared online: ‘Just to let you all know I’m going to be taking a break from playing for a while. I have been diagnosed with tonsil cancer. But the good news is it’s treatable and I will be starting a course of treatment soon. I will keep you posted how it is going.’

At the time, Liam sent his well-wishes and told his longtime bandmate: ‘Sending BIG love to the 1 n only Bonehead and his family wishing you a speedy recovery we’re all thinking of you rasta you’ll be back on stage bfore you can say r we doing Colombia LG x.’

He later announced he was cancer free in September of that year.

Arthurs is a founding member of Oasis, alongside the Gallagher brothers, Paul McGuigan and Tony McCarroll. Other members have included Gem Archer, Alan White and Bell.

He was previously a member of the band Rain with Liam before they recruited the singer’s brother, who later pushed for the band to change their name.

With Oasis he recorded three albums, including Definitely Maybe and (What’s the Story) Morning Glory?.

However, he left the band in 1999 while they were recording of the fourth album Standing on the Shoulder of Giants in order to spend more time with his children.

The guitarist was previously a member of Liam’s band Beady Eye for a year from 2013 and has played with him during his solo shows too.
