Max Branning (Jake Wood) was all of us in EastEnders as he stared in shock at Linda Carter (Kellie Bright), who had confessed her love for him just hours before his wedding to Cindy Beale (Michelle Collins).

The Walford lothario is engaged to marry Cindy, who reckons love rat Max could be the love of her life, unaware of the fact that he’s been cheating on her with Priya Nandra-Hart (Sophie Khan Levy) for months.

But it’s not just Priya who Max is after, with the car salesman having made several plays since his return last year to win back Linda, who famously cheated on actual soulmate Mick (Danny Dyer) with Max six years ago.

Linda has attempted to resist his charms but the night before he puts a ring on Cindy’s finger, she admitted to having fallen for him, leaving Max questioning whether or not to go through with his nuptials.

Ravi Gulati (Aaron Thiara), meanwhile, learned of Priya’s pregnancy but has come to the conclusion that he’s the father. Devastated, Priya was unable to break his heart about her unborn child’s true parentage and thus kept shtum.

The stage has been set for a big Walford wedding week and if you’d like to know what’s to come on Monday then you’re in luck.

What happens next in EastEnders? New spoilers for Monday, September 7

The day of Max and Cindy’s and Kim Fox (Tameka Empson) and Howie Danes’ (Delroy Atkinson) weddings arrive. Max, however, has gone missing and the family are worried sick that he’s done a runner as they desperately try to locate him before the ceremony.

Cindy, meanwhile, is left devastated when she learns that most of Walford has opted to attend Kim and Howie’s nuptials instead of her and Max’s.

Max eventually surfaces and, still thinking about what happened the night before, he heads over to Peacock Palace to speak to Linda. Things, however, take a turn when Linda uncovers that Max has been having an affair with Priya and a row ensues.

Later, he heads to the car lot to speak to Priya, who is less than pleased to learn that he told Linda about their dalliance. Another argument erupts between the two, who are unaware that Lauren Branning (Jacqueline Jossa) has overheard the whole thing!

Appalled, Lauren refuses to attend the wedding.

There’s more animosity ahead for Max when he returns home to face Jack (Scott Maslen) and Oscar’s (Pierre Counihan-Moullier) wrath but attention is soon on getting him to the church on time.

Things go surprisingly to plan on this front, with Max and Cindy all set to exchange vows – that is, until Linda and Priya arrive. Spoilers for subsequent episodes confirm that chaos erupts at the wedding – will Linda and Priya spill the beans?

Kim, meanwhile, is upset that Denise (Diane Parish) is unable to attend the wedding but a gesture from Howie leaves her in good spirits. And with Denise emotional during the ceremony via video link, Howie makes a last-minute change to proceedings.

Elsewhere, Zoe Slater (Michelle Ryan) is back in Walford and she helps Kat (Jessie Wallace) spend time with Tommy (Sonny Kendall), who is worried about seeing Joel Marshall (Max Murray).
