Manchester United’s Casemiro believes that Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s ‘winning mentality’ will help the club to get back in the right direction.
The Red Devils confirmed late last year that the Glazer family had agreed a £1.3bn deal with Ratcliffe and his INEOS partners for a 25% stake in the club.
The deal will see Ratcliffe take charge of football operations at Old Trafford, with Sir Dave Brailsford also set to play an influential role at the club moving forward
The British billionaire brings with him a wealth of experience in the world of sports as the owner of French side Nice and the cycling team INEOS Grenadiers, formerly Team Sky.
And Casemiro has full confidence that the 71-year-old can be the catalyst for a long-term improvement in the club’s fortunes.
‘He’s already introduced himself to us,’ the Brazilian midfielder said, speaking to CNN.
‘I think with his winning mentality and his wins in all sports, it’s always very important to have people that want to continue growing.
‘With his experience, he’ll return Manchester United to the highest possible level. We are very hungry to learn, grow and take the club to the highest place.’
After a hugely influential first season at the club, Casemiro has struggled with fitness and form this term.
The 31-year-old made his return to action on the weekend in United’s 4-2 FA Cup win against Newport County having missed the last 15 games in all competitions with injury.
With only 18 months left on his contract, Casemiro has been consistently linked with a move away from the club, with the Saudi Pro League keen on his services.
However, the former Real Madrid star has instead he has no desire to leave the club.
‘I’m very happy at Manchester United,” he added. ‘As I’ve always said, the fans have always helped me. The club is always good to me.’
