Peaky Blinders star Paul Anderson is said to have pleaded guilty after being found with crack cocaine.
The actor, 45, plays Arthur Shelby in the BBC series and was rumoured to be starring in the upcoming film adaptation of the hit Cillian Murphy series.
Anderson appeared in court on Thursday, after police caught him with the Class A drug and a pipe used for smoking it, according to MailOnline.
He is said to have admitted to possessing it, as well as class B amphetamines and two class C prescription substances.
Anderson was caught after a trip to his local pub in Hampstead, where the manager said he smelt crack cocaine fumed coming from the disabled toilet after the actor walked out.
The prosecutor added to the Magistrates’ Court that Anderson was taken to a police station where he was found to be in possession of crack cocaine and other amphetamines.
The actor answered ‘no comment’ to all questions during his interview, it’s been reported, but later tested positive for opiates and cocaine – not crack cocaine – the court heard.
He pleaded guilty to the four drugs charges at the hearing earlier this week.
The defending lawyer claimed that Anderson ‘slips into’ his Peaky Blinders character, saying: ‘You will recognise the defendant from a very intense part that he has played in a recent television programme.’
‘He is often recognised and does his best to please fans of the show by slipping into character.
‘He was recognised that Boxing Day and tried to play up for these people.
‘And because of the lifestyle he leads people often give him inducements.’
Anderson was fined a total of £1,345, with his lawyer insisting that he had not been smoking crack cocaine.
She added: ‘He has found himself in an unfortunate position and should have had the strength to say no.’
Anderson has also held roles in 2015 film The Revenant, in various episodes of Top Boy, and starred in Doctor Who and Silent Witness.
