Former Manchester United star Owen Hargreaves has compared Bryan Mbeumo to Mohamed Salah after his performance in the victory over Tottenham.
Mbeumo scored his third goal in four appearances under Michael Carrick against Spurs on Saturday afternoon. Picked out in the box in a clever corner routine involving Bruno Fernandes and Kobbie Mainoo, the former Brentford star coolly found the bottom corner to set United on their way to victory.
It followed goals against Manchester City and Arsenal with the summer signing now on 10 goals for the campaign in 21 appearances.
Mbeumo has operated on the right of attack for much of the season but has started through the middle under Carrick ahead of Benjamin Sesko, also popping up on the left today against Spurs.
Having quickly become United’s most reliable goal scorer, former midfielder Hargreaves has likened him to Liverpool legend Salah.
‘He’s 26, 27, he can deliver, he’s just got it,’ Hargreaves told TNT Sport.

‘He is a great finisher, I said this a little earlier in the season but he reminds me of Mo Salah. He is a good finisher when he is in those areas, he doesn’t get too up and doesn’t get too down which I think is a brilliant attribute.’
Man Utd star will become ‘a special player’
Hargreaves also lavished praise on Kobbie Mainoo, who has started every game under Carrick having failed to start a single Premier League match under Ruben Amorim this season.
The England international turned in another excellent midfield display against Thomas Frank’s side with Hargreaves comparing his desire to play with flair to that of United legend George Best.
‘I’ve never watched Kobbie play and he’s not played like that. I’ve never seen him have a bad game.

‘I can’t believe how talented the kid is. This club is all about producing academy players and he is a fantastic one.
‘When you think about the days of George Best coming through playing with flair and with risk, Kobbie is that type of player.
‘He takes the ball at any point and you can pass it to him anywhere on the pitch and he looks like he’s playing the park with his mates.
‘It’s a credit to him. He is so comfortable on the ball and he is so humble. He’s going to be a really special player.’
